Salesforce in Claude: Where Wave AI Takes Over the Work

168 of our open opportunities had no next step, so nobody could say what was supposed to happen on them, and 39 were due to close in October. See how one request in Claude built the grid inside Salesforce, and how Wave AI then gave all 39 October deals a next step in one reviewed change. Leave with the prompts and Claude's current pricing. Recorded in a Salesforce test org with real screens, nothing mocked up.
The short answer
- Looking at the Claude Salesforce connector? Salesforce in Claude is very good at reading your pipeline and proposing changes, and by default you approve each proposed change before it's written. When the fix covers dozens or hundreds of records, that's where Wave AI takes over.
- Claude starts it, Salesforce holds it. Through Wave AI's connector, a request in Claude builds a real grid inside your org, and Claude hands you the link.
- One review for the whole change. Wave AI shows how many records, their current values and a dry run, then asks once. One Undo takes it all back.
- Nothing leaves the org. The grid, the records and the edit all stay in Salesforce, under the same permissions and sharing rules. Wave AI is free in public beta.
It started with a question in Claude
Most pipeline cleanups start as a question, and more and more of those questions start in Claude. We asked it this, word for word:
- Claude asked Wave AI for a plan first. That step only reads the org. It came back with a proposal: a grid on Opportunity, filtered to open deals with a blank Next Step, sorted by amount, with the blank cells flagged red.
- We said build it, and it did. Claude replied with the grid's name, 168 rows, and a link that opens it in Wave AI inside Salesforce.
- One click opened the grid in a Salesforce tab, with every Next Step cell in red. The records never left Salesforce: Claude saw a name, a count and a link.

39 deals, one change, reviewed before it saved
A blank next step is a small thing on one deal and a real forecasting problem on 168. We started with the ones closing soonest. One sentence in Wave AI put our October deals in a grid with the Next Step column showing and every blank one in red:
83 October deals, and 39 of them had an empty, red Next Step. Then the fix:
In Salesforce terms that's a mass update, the kind of job that usually means Data Loader or a spreadsheet round trip. Wave AI didn't change anything yet. It listed a sample of the deals with their current next step (blank), said all 39 records had passed a dry run, and asked, "Shall I apply this?"
We said "Yes, apply it". It reported all 39 deals updated, and the grid refreshed: every red cell now read "Call to confirm the timeline", and the red was gone. In the grid Claude built, those 39 dropped out, leaving 129 still to work.

↔Before · 39 blank, in redAfter · 39 filled
We undid it the same way. Wave AI said what it would restore, the Next Step on all 39 deals back to blank, and asked again. Afterwards we queried Salesforce and compared all 488 open deals closing in October against a copy taken before the test. Zero differences.

Connecting Wave AI to Claude
Wave AI's connector for Claude is added as a custom connector. It brings a small set of tools: one that plans and only reads, three that build a grid, a dashboard or a matrix, and ones that show you what already exists. Your admin decides which tools need approval. The editing itself stays in Wave AI, where there's a review before anything saves.
